1. Students will Know the terms and the corresponding definition
2. Students will be Able to match the complementary colors
3. Students will Be Able to write the “formulas” for making a color (1 red + 1 blue= violet) or 2 red+1 blue = red violet)
4. Students will Be able to draw a color wheel and label it correctly




Color Vocabulary

1. Complementary Colors - colors directly opposite of each other on the color wheel
2. Analogous colors- Colors that are directly beside each other on the color wheel
3. Primary Color- A color that cannot be made by mixing two colors
4. Secondary Color- A color produced by mixing two Primary colors
5. Intermediate color- A color produced by mixing 1 primary and 1 secondary color
6. Tertiary Color -Color produced by mixing 2 secondary colors
7. Nuetrals- a color that has been grayed or reduced in intensity by being mixed with any of the neutrals or with a complementary color.
8. Warm colors- colors associated with red yellow and orange- associated with fire and the sun
9. Cool Colors-colors containing blue, green and violet-associated with air, sky water
10. Chromatic-Pertaining to color
11. High Key any color with a value level of middle gray or lighter
12. Low Key- any color with a value level of middle gray or darker
13. Spectrum-The band of colors that result when a beam of white light is broken into its components wavelengths
14. Intensity-the saturation, strength or purity of a color. (Brightness/dullness)
15. Color Triad- three Colors equal distance apart on the color wheel forming an equilateral triangle
16. White- the presence of all colors
17. Black-the absence of all color
18. Tint – adding white to a color
19. Shade adding black to a color
20. Split Complementary Colors - a color (green) and the two colors on either side of its complement(red violet, red orange)
21.Monochramatic- pertaining to or using only one color, its tints and shades
**22. Additive- Color created by superimposing light rays. adding together the three physical primaries of light (red blue and green not to be mistaken for the primary colors) will produce white light. the secondaries of light are cyan yellow and magenta
**23. Subtractive Color- the sensation of color that is produced when the wavelengths of light are reflected back to the viewer after all the other colors have been aborbed
